About this role

Skilled Construction Volunteers will lead all aspects of the construction project and must have hands-on experience in construction or building. Volunteers may be women and/or men with carpentry or DIY experience who are comfortable using power tools such as miter saws, drills, and other construction equipment.

Construction volunteers must also be prepared to actively teach high school girls how to use these tools, demonstrating proper techniques, supervising their work, and guiding them in safe tool use throughout the build process.

What to expect

Day 1 — Measure, Cut & Assemble

The focus is on measuring, cutting, assembly, and painting. Volunteers should be skilled at reading design plans and using power tools, including a table saw and miter saw.

Day 2 — Finishing Touches

Less technical skill is required. Focus is on finishing touches: installing planter box handles, painting, completing any remaining build elements from Day 1, and working with plant materials.
